Coming up with a opening to this one was too difficult, so I didn't. Myst, and its sequels are an excellent example of worldbilling. They started with one island with five other worlds, or "ages", connected together. Then came Riven and the number only increased by three, then another five with Exile and, if you've been keeping count, is fifteen whole worlds with differences all their own. Every age you visit in these games always have some backstory written into the environment, not told to you but shown to you in ways that are subtle yet sublime, all you have to do is look. "But Kiheiji, this a puzzle game, how can this have good story?" I hear you say. Well, avery fiber of these games is packed with story. That is what made it such a hit back when it was released for the Mac OS in 1993 (suck it windows). Ports are now available for Windows, Playstation, Nintendo DS, and even the Atari Jaguar CD. If you have decided to play this, the developer Cyan Worlds came out with an updated version called RealMist, witch has full 3D environments instead of the pre-rendered pictures they used in Myst.
There's even a movie supposedly in the works.
