El Mariachi and friends.

Most of you are googling this name right now, aren't you? If you are not, you're my new best friends. El Mariachi was produced on a US$7,225.00 budget and shot on 16mm film in northern Mexico by Robert Rodriguez. It was originally intended for a Mexican audience but got picked up by Columbia Pictures, who spent far more than US$7.000.00 on transferring the film to 35mm, marketing, and distribution. The film was latter entered into The Library of Congress for it's cultural significance. This is what I would call Robert Rodriguez's first Hollywood film, he later went on to make Sin City, Predators, and Machete. Now, is the film good? I think so, but if you have a grudge against subtitles because they killed your parents, then don't watch this movie. It was shot in Mexico and is in Spanish and has many, many subtitles. The film is an action film and has a high body count, with almost comical amounts of bullets, and yet El Mariachi can get vary personal with you, on a personable level and the film has two sequels: Desperado and Once Upon A Time in Mexico. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
